2016 Presidential Science, Tech, Health, and Environmental Forum

What are the top science, tech, health, and environmental questions the candidates for president should answer?

INSTRUCTIONS:
A) Be sure to vote on existing questions.
B) Address your question to the candidates and ask about their policy positions. Don’t ask rhetorical questions. Ask your question in summary form (your “headline” question), then a new window will open up, where you should:
C) Provide more detail in a 2-part format:
1) Declarative statement (1-2 sentences max) describing the situation and context, followed by
2) Question (1 sentence) asking what they will do about it if elected.

FOLLOW THIS EXAMPLE FROM 2012:
What priority will you give to funding scientific research?
Federally funded research has helped to produce America’s major postwar economies and to ensure our national security, but today the UK, Singapore, China, and Korea are making competitive investments in research. Given that the next Congress will face spending constraints, what priority would you give to investment in research in your upcoming budgets?

A top science question the candidates for president should answer is:

    • What affect will US and World population growth have on your policies while in office?

In 1960 the world population was 3 billiion. Now it's more than 7 billion.
In 1960 the US population was 180 million. Now it's more than 320 million.

How will that reality effect how you govern in terms of economic, environmental, health, political, infrastructure, housing, land use, water, agriculture, immigration, national security, and social policies?

      • Why do none of you ever talk about overpopulation?

There are environmental disasters in every state in the union and they are due to efforts to feed and supply energy to our growing population. While some of you are talking about adding a million people annually by preventing abortions, the rest of you have nothing to say about overpopulation at all. What are your opinions?

        • As world population increases, how do you plan to address the impact of that pressure?

World population is predicted to increase 51% from 7.4 billion to 11.2 billion in just the remaining 84 years of this century. One way to slow this down is to give men and women who do not want to be parents free access to accurate and full *** education, free birth control and abortion. In addition, including education regarding increasing population and resulting effects on the world we live in would be extremely helpful. What policies do you have in mind to address this unprecedented population explosion, and why do you think they will work?

          • How will world population stop increasing?

The world's population is increasing. It can not increase forever. What policies would you support to help it eventually stop increasing?

            • What should be done about human population overshoot?

Humanity is now consuming half again as many ecological services as nature can provide. This is decimating our ecological heritage and is unsustainable. How do we reduce our consumption of ecological services to within nature's ability to supply them?

              • Will you support U.S. policies that will greatly reduce total immigration levels and move our country toward population stabilization?

One of the greatest threats to society, to the economy, and to the environment (including wildlife and wildlands) is human population growth. Few countries have rational population policies, yet every country (except those in the European Union apparently!) has the sovereign right and obligation to its citizens to set its own rational population policies. No international organization is going to do this – or should be given the right to do it. Will you support U.S. policies that will greatly reduce total immigration levels and move our country toward population stabilization?

                • What is your plan to deal with rapid population growth and it's impacts?

There is hardly any pressing policy issue that isn't directly affected by the rapid and on going pressure of overpopulation. Recent projections suggest that in the not so distant future, global population will reach nine billion. This growth will make many of the issues your administration must deal with even harder to manage. What is your plan to deal with rapid population growth and it's impacts?

                  • Do you believe there are too many people?

So many of our practical problems -- global warming, food scarcity, pollution, crime, unemployment -- stem from overpopulation. If you agree, what practical and nondiscriminatory ideas can you suggest for dealing with it.

                    • Should stabilizing US population size and stopping mass immigration be policy goals?

Population growth makes every environmental problem harder to solve, because more people means more pressure on water, energy, natural habitat and even man-made environments including infrastructure. Imigration and the children born to post-1965 immigrants drive almost all of US population growth.

Therefore, should stopping mass immigration in order to stabilize population size by a chief policy goal?

                      • Address minus PG: we need to get human population down to a few 100,000, NOT 7billion.

7billion people means pollution, global warming, environmental disaster, factory food INEVITABLE: 7billion will not survive without these things. Population a social burden & responsibility NOT individual choice or individual right.

                        • Will you work to hyper-fund and internationalize planned-parenthood or similar initiatives?

Environmental preservation and world peace will fail unless the world's population is controlled / reduced. What has happened in the USA to defund these efforts is a result of objections raised against birth control by religious zealots who believe that God alone has the authority to control the population. Will you work to hyper-fund and internationalize planned-parenthood or similar initiatives?

                          • What are your views on using policy to encourage one-child families?

Overpopulation is the primary driver of climate change and habitat loss leading to mass extinctions. It also contributes to poverty, terrorism, and a host of social maladies. Most scientists feel the earth can sustain 1.5 billion people at a European standard of living. The only moral way to get to that number is through one child families. Your reaction?
